Hey all,
I am new to the forums here but I needed some help. I had originally ordered Dish Network a few weeks ago and the tech came out to install it. However, he said that the line of site was WAAAAY off. See, I live in an apartment and my balcony has a North East East view. I mean, I can see South / South South East if I lean over the edge of the balcony and look to the right, however there is building that still continues to go as I am a middle building...
So I had called DirecTV and just like DishNetwork told me, "they will definately be able to install it if I have the SLIGHTEST view of the south"... So, what do you guys think? Is DirecTV usually able to install satellites where Dish can't? This is teh BEST example I could think of to show you guys:

My balcony (the left is my building, the right is the ledge):

NORTH
__

|==\ This is my balcony edge.
|===\

-------

|..........\
|...........\ This is building, it continues south about 12 feet past my balcony.

-----------
SOUTH

My zip code is 30152 if you guys need to look at Azimuth or anything. Thank you very much for your help guys!

Well... it says 222 degree. How far off do you think it can be? or does it need to be exactly 222??? What I mean is, can the satellite point at 180 degrees and still work fine? Thank you in advance!

You have to be right on within a few fractions of a degree.
You're pointing at the satellite located above the equator at 101W longitude. Your aim angle is 222, so 180 won't work.

BTW, if you plan to use the other DirecTV satellites at 110 and 119, then you need visibility even further west.

Oops the sat I gave you is for the 110 sat. For the 101 slot pick the DirecTV 1R/2/3 one. 101 azimuth is 209.6 for you.

That site I linked to will give you the az and el to a single satellite. This can be a starting place to see if you have line of sight to any of the individual satellites. You need to use the values from the receiver to get the proper values for the 3 and 5 LNB dishes.

I cancelled my installation today. I don't wanna take off work again for nothing. I ordered comcast and bought a TiVo from BestBuy today. Oh well....
