I am thinking about getting one of the PowerVu satellite receivers. Does anyone know anything about them? The reason I was looking into them is I noticed on Lyngsat that a lot of channels are encrypted in "PowerVu" and I was hoping this kind of receiver would open up a lot more channels that otherwise would not be accessible with a standard MPEG-2 receiver.

Thanks,
David

Moved from the PC DVB area, FTANewGuy please try to post in the main FTA area.
Thanks : )

Like Iceberg said, you'll need to be authorized to receive PowerVu signals. Unless you are a cable company or other MSO, that's not going to happen.

BUT, unencrypted PowerVu transmissions are viewable on any MPEG2/FTA systems. You don't need a SA PowerVu receiver.
