My husband and I are exploring getting a Dish Satellite for our rv for 3 months in the winter. Do we have to purchase a Dish500 in order to use the prepaid card system. Is it possible to purchase a used satellite dish for this option. Thanks for any help you may give us. This is my first time on a forum so please be patient with me.

You don't have to use a dish 500, you can use any of the Dish Network dishes. You can pick up used dishes on ebay or sometimes local installers will give you one.
Make sure you do your homework on the prepaid card. My understanding is that they're doing away with that option, but I don't have all the details.
