Problems with 922 -- looking for help

Hello, all:
I finally received a 922 the other day. Last night, while watching and testing out my ipad simultaneously, I lost the picture on my television. After two hard reboots and a soft reboot, nothing. The tech said I had a bad box and that they are sending me a new one. I'm not a tech wiz, but something tells me the issue is not the box, but something deeper. I don't know what I can possibly do. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why I lost my picture and what I can do to resolve the problem? Thanks much.
 
Interesting. Thanks very much. And perhaps a stupid (and unrelated) question: Are software updates sent directly to the box (a la an I-phone), or do you need to purchase a new, updated box?
