E has 2 new sats going up by Dec. So you know they plan on doing SOMETHING with the new capacity.

CNN HD is supposed to launch 4th Qtr 2007
Toon Disney HD, Disney Channel HD, & ABC Family HD are supposed to launch first half of 2008
Sci-Fi Channel HD - As far as I found, this is pure vaporware. No announced plans unless I missed something.
Chiller HD - supposed to launch 3rd Qtr 2007. Per a response I received from ceo@echostar, E* has no plans to add Chiller HD or even the SD feed.

From where I sit, you don't know ANY channels DISH plans to add. I like it that my company lets me know their plans.

Look Van ya dont like sports and thats ok. I can respect that. So you chose the provider that works best for you. Ease up on the judgement of others.

Seriously, though in the next couple years both D* and E* will be going through changes in trying to deliver all the HD they can.
Im sure E* is negotiating with RSN's and the same channels D* has. Hold on for a while. You will see both E* and D* will deliver.
Not really true - I can think of many channels DISH can't have for years - like MLB. And while I do think its great that both will have lots more to offer, DISH is not going to attract the avid sports fan, and there are TONS of them - they have just written off that entire market for some reason IMO.
False advertising or FUTURE advertising? - until December 31st hits, you (and me, and everyone else) can't make the judgement that the ads were in fact untrue in ANY WAY.
Another D* lemming that believes press release kool aid. The fact Scott said he talked to the HistHD guys, gives me no doubt.
The objective facts are Dish has been adding HD and has made the biggest commitment to HD to date. Long before Voom DBS came and went DirecTV has promised, anounced and promoted thier 100-150 HD channels. Look at what they've delivered to so far.
For the faster and larger growing avid HD fans, of the current providers, the facts are Dish has the follow through. However, I hope DirecTV does get at least some more HD up there soon to keep the race going and Dish growing in full HD.
D* has ALWAYS said that they needed D10 and D11 to be launched in order to expand their national HD channel lineup, so they haven't delivered anything since they can't. I'm sure that they could have had those satellites operational a year or more ago but you just don't walk into BestBuy and grab one off the rack.
One thing I've said before, D* has been pushing the content providers to start providing new HD channels and coming to agreements with them to carry them. I haven't seen any channel come out and say that they've been in discussions with E* to get a new HD channel launched. If it wasn't for D* making this push with the content providers I wonder how many of these new channels would even be coming out this year?
I like it when my provider actually ADDS content rather than just talking about it. D* has yet to deliver on their promise. Saying it and doing it are two different things. E* has been whooping D*'s butt now for a while as far as new content in HD.
buddy - you have a real bad habit - calling names to people that state their opinions when you take the other side. If you can't learn to disagree as an adult - you should leave these forums. BTW, I have read through your months of posts of how wonderful DirecTV was to you also.
I agree that I like it when my provider actually adds content rather than talk about it - so I sugest you re-read the threads about the grandstanding DISH did regarding MLB-EI. Please notice that inDemand (cable) also has MLB available. Those talked about channels that DirecTV ACTUALLY carries (including the sports portion of it - is OUTRAGEOUS). I get YES-HD FULL-TIME, SNY-HD full-time, 1-3 HD baseball games EVERY NIGHT from MLB-EI, I also get NFL ST SF. IMHO, the HD offering by DirecTV BLOWS away DISH (if I didn't wouldn't I switch?).
But you mix up programming preferences with sheer number of channels, and this is foolish. My HD programming blows away the 17 worthwhile HD channels that DISH has (VOOM is not anywhere on MY desired list - I'll take sports anytime). I would much rather have the 10 or so channels I watch in HD, than brag about 25 that I wouldn't watch anyhow. And you know what - I actually get the 10 HD channels I will watch the most, no matter how many more they add (my locals, ESPN 1 and 2, YES, SNY and the baseball games).
And OF COURSE DirecTV hasn't delivered on the additional HD nationals yet - they NEVER siad they would before the end of this year. Obviously you don't own a business - because if you did, you most likely would also be planning 3-5 (or more) years in advance - and you probably would be sharing your goals with your customers.
In all due respect - this is subjective not objective - and there are truly differing opinions held on this. DirecTv has ALSO been adding HD - in fact they have been adding the MOST IMPORTANT HD channels - the HD locals at a far greater rate than DISH - how can you NOT INCLUDE that in your argument - the locals have MUCH more interest than ANY CABLE network does. And I guess you must think that Charlie was expecting VOOM to fail - I mean, where would the DISH HD offering be if they ALSO had to do it on their own? You are mixing up the needed planning by DirecTv to get the capacity it needed, with DISH getting lucky enough to purchase a bankrupt company. And VOOM continues to flounder - it has extrememly low viewership, and has NOT been picked up by any other provider in the U.S. - not even CABLEVISION, the company that owns 80% of VOOM.
Frankly, if VOOM HAD successfully made it, DISH would be in the exact same boat now, having to put up sats to get bandwidth. Just a fortunate break for charlie has him where he is - not great planning IMHO.
