I'm specifically referring to this one:
http://www.smarthome.com/77958t.html

It's a 5 x 8 switch made by Terk. There are 5 inputs. 4 from the satellite, 1 from antenna.

I currently use two 3x4 Terk switches. I have two cables coming out of the DirecTV LNB. They become inputs for the Terk switch.

I want to get a few more DirecTivo boxes for my other rooms. I need to split the signal more.

My question is, if I get the 5x8 Terk switch in question, how will it work when I only have 2 inputs from the satellite? If I have only two inputs, will the Switch split then to 8 outputs? Or will 4 output jacks be non-operational?

it should work

otherwise there are 3x8 multiswitches on EBay and other areas

Heck, there is even 2x16 multiswitches :)

Sounds like you have a 18" dish if you only have 2 satellite feeds.

The 5x8 will work but a 3x8 will do the same thing and will be cheaper. On the 5x8 you will use the satellite A inputs, satA 13v and satA 18v NOT 22k.
