I'm not a professional (duh!) and usually install my equipment with the yelling at each other method, which works. Anyway, I bought this little dink SF-95 meter that hooks up between the dish and the receiver. The receiver powers it with 18 volts I believe.

Last year's model SF-95 had a port to hook up an aux power supply using 2 9v batteries in series.

The 2009 model does not have a port for such a function.

HERE'S MY QUESTION:
Is it feasible for me to hook up 2 9v batteries in series and hook directly to the cable port of the meter to power it? I know I can use the receiver's power, but would rather not.
If it's feasible, positive would connect to center core and negative to the outer braid???
