I have a nice General Instrument 4DTV receiver model 920 that was working perfectly when I removed it 6 years ago.

What is this unit worth?

I have been told that the chip that stored the unit ID goes bad or the battery or something and can not be repaired. Is this true? I powered it up today, went to options and got the unit ID so it appears to work fine.

920 with good ID are worth maybe $100 or what ever the market is at the current time. Look on e-bay for some idea of todays market. Being unplugged for 6 years now whoever you sell it to would be strongly recommended to change the battery ASAP. Once that ID dies on a 920 it becomes a doorstop.

Thanks for the information ... has a good ID as of today. Hardly worth the bother for $100 though.
