If I add a 750gb external hard drive to a 722, how many total hours of HD can I record?
Thanks in advance.

There are roughly 10 HD channels that are still "MPEG2" rather than "MPEG4". Any day (very likely some time over the next 2-3 weeks), Dish will change those to MPEG4 and then all HD channels will be MPEG4.

At that point, it will be easier to get a number that is plausible.

Having said all that, my guess is very very roughly 350 hours.

But it depends on the content.

If it is mostly sports, it could be quite a bit less.

It will also be less if a lot of your content is from NBC and/or CBS.

Note 750*1000^3 disk maker = 699*1024^3 customary.
I find MPEG-2 HD to be 4000 MB/hr, MPEG-4 HD 2100 to 2600, MPEG-2 SD 900, OTA is higher.
That is with filler and before commercials.
So 699*1024/2400 (say) = 298 MPEG-4 hours with some filler.
With my mix of MPEG-2 HD/SD, MPEG-4 HD, and little OTA, I get 300 to 320 hours of programs on each "750GB" disk.
