Hello!

I have several questions on the new Mpeg4 receivers coming down the line.

1. Will all the new receivers be HD compatable. In other words, are capable of receiving HD if one chooses to subscribe at some point?

2. Are any of these new recieivers "dual" tuner models like the 322, 522 ?

the two mpeg4 receivers that have been set to be released in a future date are the 211/411 and the 962. They both do HD. The 211/411 is a single tuner receiver while the 962 is a dual tuner dvr.

The 962 is one of those things that is basically a rumor, but is so well spread and accepted that it must have some basis in fact. The 962 name has been floating around as long as the 942 has been out. It seems like there was a source for this name originally, but everyone seems to have forgotten it.

Whether or not it will actually be called "962" is not important, but there will almost certainly be an MPEG-4 DVR similar to the 942, if not virtually identical, within 6-12 months.

like what M Sparks said, there has been lots of talk of a MPEG-4 HD DVR. Some people say it will be a 962, regardless of what it will be called there will be a MPEG4 HD DVR since the 942 WILL NOT do MPEG4.

It came from this website that talks about the new mpeg4 receivers. Note there is no picture associated with the product yet , just a descripition.

Same source, FWIW, lists a dual tuner MPEG-4 non-DVR receiver called the 422. Maybe that will become the 222? :p See this link.

It is generally accepted that all future DISH receivers will be HD, MPEG-4 and 8PSK capable.
