I loved them in the 90's (even Shiney Happy People) but am not surprised by the news. They had a good run and made some great music too.

My wife is a huge REM fan (her second favorite group) and when I told her that they broke up her reply was, "I thought they broke up a long time ago. I didn't even know they were still a band."
