When a company goes bankrupt, like out-of-business bankrupt, the court tries to sell everything. This includes the brand name and, in modern times, the accompanying web address. Most all of these websites have no relationship to the actual company.

Pre-internet, but back when all the old TV brands were going out, LG bought all those brand names for next to nothing. They would label their products as this or that 1950-60s brand and take advantage of loyalists.

Radio Shack franchised stores still exist, but they're otherwise independent from one another. I consider Radio Shack the electronic store equivalent of Blockbuster Video (whose last store still operates in Bend, Oregon), in that all the corporate-owned Radio Shack stores shut down, leaving the franchised stores running independently of one another. I know of two Radio Shack dealer stores in my area that still do good business: Sound Check in Pulaski, Wisconsin and Oconto Electric Cooperative in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin.

Yeeeeeeeeeeah! The 1 store we had was great until they revamped with Monster Speaker Cable and Cell phone sign ups. Not much was left in the transistor department. Miss that place.

Still got one going strong in Charlevoix MI, not far from where I live. We also figured we would have the last Kmart but that did close a few years back.
