It's kind of unfortunate but I think many consumers today expect to pay
little to nothing up front and have their monthly's. When my home was hit by
lightning and knocked out almost all of my electronics, Directv w/Microsoft
Ultimate Tv included, I had just returned from a 10 day vacation and was
financially spent. I couldn't afford to $700+ to buy the equipment again and
was forced to signup with Time Warner Cable. No money down. My monthly bill
was actually more than I pay Voom today. Most people can afford $50-$100 up
front and the rest on their monthly bills. Most, not all..but most, cannot
afford to drop $500-$1000 on equipment on top of a large monthly bill.
