[VOOM] OTA problem in Tyler, TX

So I got my voom installed in March. OTA has never worked. I figured that
it was because the local NBC station wasn't broadcasting with enough
wattage, so I just ignored the problem. Now my town (Tyler, TX) also has a
CBS station that's broadcasting in HD. Even though the tower is only a few
miles away, I still couldn't pick it up with the antenna they installed. To
test it out I went to Best Buy and bought a little indoor HD antenna and
hooked it up to the OTA reciever on my Voom box. CBS came in fine. Anyone
have any suggestions, or should I just call Voom and get them to send
someone out again?

You can rescan your OTA channels.
At your own risk.!!! But I have done it with no problem.
First, is your off air antenna hooked up to the plastic module on the right side (looking at the back) of the back of the VOOM receiver. This is where your OTA antenna needs to hook up to.
Then hit VOOM button, then green button in row 3 of buttons. Then arrow down to 4th item System Settings and hit OK to select that. You will get a caution at this point....
Then, assuming you have 6.20 software, and you should if you've been hooked up to VOOM every night. The third and last number in the 2nd row (or third can't remember) on the upper right will say 6.20, then you are OK.
Now hit Installer menu. Go to Scan OTA channels and let it scan the whole thing, about 2 minutes. It should list what channels were found. If nothing was found then you have a connection, hookup, or antenna aiming problem. If channels wer found then hit watch button, press the number 2 and start channel surfing. All two digit numbers are the OTA ones.
If you have any doubts about doing this call VOOM aqnd get a service call. Do you get any SD channels currently on your TV with yur antenna?
I am only going from memory so read the commands carefully before proceeding. It is a very simple proceedure and you are not likely to hurt anything by doing it.
