[VOOM] Voom in Dallas

I have been following the threads of this group for several weeks now
and I am very seriously considering getting Voom. I have a Mitsubishi
55" (WS55313) and would love to take advantage of the HD capability. I
currently have Direct TV and am not willing to spend $350 for the HD
receiver and $10.99/mo for HD channels. I also have the Direct TV tivo
and will not spend $999 for the HD Tivo. The lack of a DVR from Voom
is a concern, but not paramount (more for my wife than for me).

What I want to know is who does the installs in the Dallas Metroplex?
I don't know if it is Installs Inc. or another company. Can anyone
from the Dallas area fill me in on who did their install?

Thanks to all of you for the good information.

Wishing you all a very Happy and Healthy New Year.

Request for MetroTech and don't settle for anything
else! They ROCK! they know what they are doing, not in
a hurry, they will even be there on your scheduled
date and time! Best you can get IMHO!
Even when it came time to disconnect my Voom service.
They bent over back wards to make sure everything was
fine and all.

So make sure you request MetroTech!
and no I don't have anything to do with them. I just
want to make sure people don't go through what I did
with the others in the area.

Happy New Year!

Re: [VOOM] Re: Voom in Dallas

Installs,Inc did the install at my house in Plano. They did a good job.

Their free installation when I got it was for them to disconnect the cable from my Comcast and use that cable to connect Voom. I did not want them to disconnect Comcast so he charged me $45 to run another cable line from the roof to the one TV that I use for Voom. I had wanted to run another line but he wanted more than that for the second so I did not do it.

My install otherwise went great. I use the DVI input to my DLP TV and the component inputs for the Comcast to the tv. I do not watch VOOM that much because I have to get up and manually change the inputs on the TV and it takes a while. But when I do the picture is fantastic. I especially like the Worldsport channel. The HD soccer is so close to the action and so real. I had gotten the VaVaVoom but I cancelled the movies since I already got them in HD on Comcast.

Too bad there are so few VOOMers nationally, only about 28000 I heard. Maybe all the advertising will help.

In addition to your post here you might want to try posting on satguys
in the "In Your Area" section. There are many posters in the
Dallas/Texas thread that no doubt have the info you need. Hope you
find out what you need to get a successful VOOM install!

Good luck and A Happy New Year!

Thats depending where you order the VOOM from, if you called Voom, its the Installs.Inc. contractor / or bidder does the installation for you.

If Installs. Inc. or any installation company do your VOOM installation, this is included up to 100' or maybe 125' cable from Dish and into one TV from one wall. If the installer did not get over 100' run of cable, he should not charge you for this, but the second run will.

You should be able to get at least $150-$200 knocked off the HD receiver price from DirecTV just by calling and asking. Sometimes it takes a call or two to the retention department, but you can definitely do better than $350.
