Can you explain what you mean?Rec. must be really old if they do own it. Some people think if they order from Solid Signal etc. they own them. You can pay several hundred dollars and it's still a lease.
You may find one on eBay. Find one advertised as owned, get the RID, then contact Directv to verify that it's owned. You will likely have to buy a new access card, usually $20.Is there anyway of buying Directv receivers?

I want to own the receivers so I can use them in an RV and deactivate them when I don't need them and reactivate them when I use the RV.
Not a bad idea. I'd have to replace the Genie mini clients with HR24 DVRs at home. Too bad the Genie won't work in the RV.just take a home receiver with you.

and if you have an hs17, well you cant have a receiver/dvr on the account with it
