I have been with dish for 6 years and have a vip622 running 2 tvs which I have had for over 3 years and a 211 which i have had for 1 year. I asked them how much it would be to add another receiver for my sons room and they said $145 plus $95 installation. This seems ridiculous! Does this sound right?

Nope. I'd play CSR roulette. Seems high, even if you were after a ViP722.

I don't think it's a rip off. But I do think you can do better, price wise.

;)Try the dishin it up promo if it's still active. I got a 222 receiver at no charge and free hi def dish upgrade just last month. had to commit to 2 year agreement though,
Try several account reps if you don't get what you want from the first one

dishin it up promo's have changed. if you do not have dhpp, you spend 95.00 extra for the install on top of the rec upgrade. and they are not waiving any upgrades at all. not even retention can waive them.

Hell, you could buy a 211k hd receiver for only $119.00 at the dishstore.org and you would OWN it . Also no commitment if you own .

Im selling an owned 222K with the over the air module for 100.00. It is in excellent condition, and so are the remotes. No install fee and no commitment. PM me if you are interested.
