I have an R5000HD modified D* 6000 which died on me last week. Power came on, the power button flashed about 13 times in sequence....then several more times (must have been an error code but I did not count the number of flashes) and then shut down.
When I figured it must have been an error code I tried to turn it on again. No go. Dead.
Unplugged. Left that way for 2 days. Plugged back in. Still Dead.
A year ago I would have just purchased another 6000 off the Bay, but as been seen, the price has risen about 4x since then.
As E* is replacing any broken 6000s with 811s, it looks like I need to send it off to get it repaired.
Anyone have any recommendations on places that do decent work - that I would not have to worry about sending off a unit with an R5000 mod in it?
