Record from DVD player to directv receiver

Here's a way to do it, sort of. Since the goal is to watch the DVD through your other DirecTV boxes, you could simply rip it onto your PC, then use DLNA to view on your boxes. Can't exactly pop in a DVD anytime and watch it immediately, but in only takes a few minutes to rip one. So pop it in your PC, start the rip, go make some popcorn, and it'll be ready to stream. Granted DirecTV sucks at DLNA, but it's pretty much your only option if you insist on doing it all with your DirecTV box. Bonus is you can build a library of all your DVDs and stream them anytime, as well as other videos, photos and music files.

I didn't even know the D* boxes had that feature. I use a Dune Media Server for in-house streaming. Absolutely love it.
