Because of my rural location I have both Dish satellite and internet satellite With the download limits of satellite internet I can only use services like Netflix in the middle of the night. If I subscribe to Netflix can I record a show with my Hopper 3
and watch it during waking hours? If so how??
Many thanks..

Short answer = no. :(

There has been some talk about Netflix allowing for that at some future date but for now, no.

As far as I can tell there is no way to use the Hopper to record from Netflix - but I don't understand why you would need to? Are you saying you are unable to watch Netflix whenever you want to?

He's on satellite internet that has some serious restrictions about bandwidth usage.

Thank you both, I have been using satellite since the big dish days, and always heard satellite tv was aimed at people with no access to cable. I am surprised (shocked) that when you can only get enough download from satellite internet for one HD movie per month for about $65, but unlimited bandwith at night that you cannot time shift.
No cell service here too.

Sounds like the thread starter has some options now thanks to the SatGuys members in the know.:D

Thanks, those programs would work. I guess all I have to do is buy a bigger hard drive for my computer for storage, buy one of the programs, buy a subscription to Netflix, and quit my job so I can keep getting up all night to start a Netflix download. Then in the daytime turn on my computer to watch a TV show. Not your problem, I know. I guess I'm a bit bitter realizing that with all the hype I heard about Hopper 3 getting Netflix I'm finding out it does the same thing my 5 year old LG DVD player did.

The Netflix app on the Hopper is just to make watching Netflix easier. It's a lot easier to go to channel 370 than to change inputs or start another box such as a ROKU or PlayStation.

PlayOn/PlayLater will let you schedule a recording. I've not used it for that so get the software, it has a free trial period, and see if it does what you want.
