With the DVR if I want to record a program each week, will it adjust the time to start recording for example, if a sports game runs overtime, or will it start recording at the pre-announced time.

All Sporting events are set to add 1 hour. Also you can adjust any timer by setting options for all or just that single timer.
It starts recording at the time the show is supposed to start. I just ad 60 or 90 minutes to that show that way if it starts late I still get the end of it.
