I just bought one of these, and I noticed it automatically installed SlingTV. I do not currently subscribe to SlingTV, but I was wondering what I could get for "free" along with my AT250 + Movie Pack. And how to access it.

On another subject, are there any Russia Channel 1 affictionados out there who might tell me how to add that?

I have an SE, a 3500r (Stick from 2015) and a 3600r (Stick from 2016). There are quite a few apps that allow you to authenticate with your Dish account credentials and watch their live TV feed, access On Demand content, movie archives, etc. One way to do this is to use the "search" option and type in "watch." that will bring up a lot of channels that have live feeds, like "Watch ESPN" and "Watch CNN." Then, search for keyword "GO." That will bring up additional streaming channels like Fox Sports Go. If you have HBO, you can install HBO GO and watch the full HBO movie archive.

Also, there is one "hidden" channel that is a MUST for all Roku owners: Nowhere TV. It has to be added through your Roku account via PC. That channel has many full series episodes, TV news feeds, etc. It has the entire library of Red Green shows ;)

Also, before I digress too much, Pluto TV is a good channel also. Many live streaming channels, including one that streams Mystery Science Theater 3000 24/7.

I've been able to use Roku's in place of satellite receivers in my daughter's bedroom and my bedroom. Using Dish or Comcast credentials, I can view many of the same channels live for no additional cost (no receiver fees, etc).

I wasn't aware that a Dish account had any benefit related to SlingTV. Or was that not what you meant ?

Otherwise, in general, if a channel that's in AT250 has an app, you can authenticate the app to gain access to what they offer. Without an account, what you can watch will usually be restricted. With an account, in some cases, you can watch full episodes of their programs.

Some apps, even though you subscribe to the channel via Dish, give you nothing extra. AMC is a good example of this.

The hardest part of being a new Roku user is weeding through the garbage channels. There are maybe 30-40 that are hybrids of their cable/sat counterparts, letting you view live TV and on-demand content, and maybe another 20 that have value on their own, like PBS, Netflix, Hulu Plus, Pandora, Iheart Radio, Tunein Radio, Vudu, MLB.TV, Youtube and Vevo. The PBS channel lets you put in a zip code and view local PBS content from MANY different markets. It's like having access to hundreds of different PBS affiliates.

Oh, and TheKrell, I forgot to mention, you can use your smart phone to control the Roku... makes it easier to type than using the Roku remote. ;)

The first thing I did was delete sling Tv when I got my roku and opened the remote to disable the 4 buttons at the bottom which one of them activated sling.

Trying to make my home Dish network free :)
good for you.....why don't you quit posting on the dish forum

Thanks but... KalinkaTV does not include Channel 1. :crying
Confusing thread title, I thought you were selling a Roku.

Sorry about that. Now n0qcu you should know that I don't violate the rules! Except by accident. In ThePit we cannot use the "P" word. Who knew? I wonder if I could tell the name of the hats that women wore to the protest march last Saturday?

For those who don't know this already, you don't advertise stuff in any part of the forum other than The Pub. :D
