hi all
I have a question going in the reverse direction. How do you unsolder or unbraze a silver-soldered joint between stainless steel and brass without destroying optical components housed within

A better description of your device is needed. Size, thickness. Maybe a photo. I would guess that the optics would need to be removed. Soldering or removal of solder requires that the metals are heated to a temp that melts the solder. I your optics are glass they may have a chance. If they are plastic or polycarbonate they probably would not survive the heat.
