You did not quote all my sentence, I said "How about pick any". ANY I WANT. I would not have to go a $80 plan to get them. (eg. Boomerang, VHI Classics, Chiller, BBC America)

To be fair, he included your complete quote. You now have added "ANY I WANT."
What you are actually asking for is not for DISH to do this, but the program providers to allow it. But beyond that there is no provider, not DISH, not Direct, not any Cable company that would be able to stay in business with $45 packages with 15 channels. I think you are looking closer to $60 at least depending on what channels are picked. So unfortunately that is a dream. Just take a look at what $30 and no locals and with commercials gets you online. It's a small amount of channels picked to fit into that price range delivered via a start up medium that cost tremendously less (for now) than with satellites. Lets see what the package costs when DISH has to pay a premium to deliver it and when programmers realize they can charge more.

Something has to give no question about it. How is the bigger question and what the resulting cost would be with a change.

Anything more than $3 increase of any package is too much and really I think even that is too much considering how much of an increase there was last year. At some point they need to NOT give an increase to be more attractive over the competitors. There are other companies services that don't go up anything like what these Satco's do which is amazing.

Like in 2012? Not that I wouldn't want a lower bill, but where does that get them when people forget about it the very next year? And those same people talk about how they are raising rates all the time beyond reality, and then about how dish just needs to sign contracts to get their programming back. It's a never ending cycle of the provider being in the wrong no matter what they do.

Sports has to be live for me. On a good college football Saturday I will switch between all kinds of games so I rarely see any commercials.

Yes this x10!!! I watch so many CFB games each season between flipping thru tuners instantly on my hopper and also streaming in a few on my tablet and phone at the exact same time! If they would just give me ESPN's and Locals I'd do away with everything else as this is all I watch. I get the news and movies online and Netflix.

They had that cycle around 2009 - 2011 I think where they advertised no price increases for 3 years but that backfired in everyones faces the following year with a HUGE increase to offset those previous 3 years just to sucker in new subs.

The lock was from 2011-2013. 2013, MOST pckages went up $5. There were a couple under $5 and I beleive it was AEP that went up $10-15.

Because DTV and Charter won't raising rates similarly? $7 is a big jump but I don't get if DISH raises it $7 and other do similar than DISH is to blame and it's back to I'm leaving posts.

Yep $7 and I will be leaving.Right now I can leave dish for charter spectrum, $90 per month for 12 months no commitment, free dvr service included.Do I want to do that,no.But if we get another huge increase, which imho $7 is huge,I will do it,and feel as though Dish forced my hand.12 months from then can choose between dish and dtv as to whom has the best introductory prices.Dish has really layed the increases to us the past 2 years, its time for them to hold them down. This goes right back to my point of all these channel pulls and disputes,if Dish truly is getting us the best bargain, show it on our bills.

I think we are in a bubble right now with rates going up every year or almost every year. Millennials will pop this bubble and the current pay tv system will go away beating a dead horse here the internet will take over.

Millennials already account for 40% of the work force WOW!!!!
That will take a long long time. You still have tens of millions of baby boomers, and Gen X to keep pay TV going. There will be consolidation. Also, what are people in a situation such as mine to do? I live in a rural area, 4.0/256k DSL is the fastest available, it is up and down, not always consistent. I have Exede as a backup, but it has high latency and ridiculous data caps. I know I am not the only one in this situation. There is and will be for the foreseeable future a market for DBS.

Charter will raise their price too, you can bet on it, just like everyone else. Probably won't be as big as Dish.

$5 each year two years in a row after raising equipment fees as much as they did in 2010 is a bit much. In 5 years we are talking what, $15-20 in programming fee increase plus another $10 or so for equipment fee increase thats $25-30 or more in increases in only 5 years. That is a LOT.

Stop looking at the amount of the increase and look at what the total bill is going to be. If Dish has a $7 increase but your total bill is still the same as a comparable package/equipment with another company then who cares? Getting mad just because of an increase is a waste of time unless it is actually making your bill higher than any of the competitors. I don't want to hear about any of the promo prices either, those are always there.

To me it's like leaving out of spite. How dare they raise prices. To me it's like not going to one gas station because they raised gas prices 5 cents so now I'm going to another gas station that never raises their price even though their gas is more expensive yet. I like them better though because they never raise prices.

Hmmm. For $93 I get over 200 channels and that includes two Hoppers and two Joeys. Who has the better deal now?

I wonder if that price includes internet?

TV pricing is pretty similar among all providers. But how much does it cost when you include internet and phone? When I compared Comcast's promo price for the triple play package I have to Dish promo pricing plus promo pricing for internet from a local provider and a VOIP service, I'm still saving $40 per month. While owning cable card equipment helps a lot, Comcast is basically giving me HBO and Starz for nothing. And I have no contract with Comcast. With Dish and the internet combo, I would be paying full price after 12 months with no way to leave Dish without paying the ETF.

Everyone has things that are more important to them. For me using my own equipment (Tivos) for a reduced fee and having fast internet was very important. Dish couldn't meet either criteria. Down the road things may change, but not right now.

Time Warner offers some really great rates if you bundle all 3 services, but only for 12 or 24 months. After that, presuming they won't extend the offer our give a different one, the rates are scary (like 2x the promo rate).

If price is the issue the only way to play is the promo game switching between providers.

Imo it is all over priced for what it is.

You may feel like you're getting a deal & that is all that matters. However for me, I would never pay any provider $93 for TV.

It may very well include internet. I was just saying it to make a point. Sometimes it all comes down to how you word things. If you get rid of the additional prices and just give someone the final price with everything included people think they are getting a better deal.

We did this with our appliance prices. For years we just had the lowest price on the appliance and then charged more for delivery and installation. Customers would complain that they had to pay more for that. We ended up just pricing everything with delivery and installation included and never heard anymore complaints. In fact most people thought they were getting a better deal even though they were paying the same price overall. It's all about perception.
