We have had two dvr510 for several months now. One of the boxes has already been replaced once. Now the replacement has gone bad. The wire from the dish has a splice in it and I was wondering if this can cause a box to go bad. I am getting an error that says the hard drive is bad. I have no problems with signal strength or quality of picture. Just wondering why I am having such bad luck. Can a bad cable ruin a dvr? Thanks!

Anything is possible when you have splices in your feed from an LNB. Just to play it safe, when you have your replacement DVR sent to you, ask that a tech be sent out to verify the integrity of your install. It shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to replace the defective line
