Reusing 301 receiver with dish-now

Gentlemen: Tried to reactivate an old (2006) dish with a 301 reciever with a Yellow smart card. I dialed into the dish number, entered "new subscrption, entered the receiver number, entered the green dot money card number, finally got a customer service guy. Said that I could not use the existing (fully functional) receiver. I would have to buy a new "prepaid receiver." Tried to explain that I had a working receiver (picked up two satellites-109 and 119: (105 was "x"ed out), and I did not want to go to the expense of buying a second (new) reciever. He said how else could He help me??

In a second phone call, I also tried the reactivication setting. They wanted to sell me a full subscription package, would not accept the green dot card.

This application is for 2 days per month in rural WV. Any suggestions?

You'll need a purple card. Dish does not sell part time subscriptions. Do you have another account where you could just travel from with the 301?

You can't use just any receiver as a prepaid receiver. DISH codes the receiver for use as a PREPAID account. The CSR is right you must buy a special prepaid account if you want prepaid.

Now if you want to use the existing equipment maybe something like the "Welcome Pack" at $9.99/mo. would satisfy your needs and allow you to use your owned equipment.

You can't just use any DP301 receiver, and turn it into a prepaid receiver, no matter what you may do.

You must buy a DP301 receiver that has been "refurbished" by dish to be a prepaid Dish NOW! receiver. That is the only way to to get a prepaid receiver.

Whatever you decide, I suggest getting the DP301 receiver from Saudon, whose company advertise here at SatelliteGuys.US

They sell the DP301 with the new G3 Smartcard already installed for $49+tax and shipping. Probably looking at $64 in total. Shipping is expensive, unfortunately.

Or you could go the Welkcome pack route for $9.99/month without locals($14.99/month) with the receiver you have. Granted your day to day control will be gone, but that would be the cheapest package to get if you don't feel like spending $64 up front to get the luxury of ordering just days at a time(you mentioned two days a month only or soemthing).

To Bobo: Could not order refurbished 301 with purple card on line from Sadoun.com, got a syntex error.

To Bobo and Steelersrule: could not find a 9.99 package anywhere (satelliteguys/sadoun/dish). Could find 9.99 for 6 months then rate goes up to standard 30$/month for two years (teaser program). If you have an address for 9.99$/month fixed rate, could you please tell me where? Thanks.
