DIRECTV has raised the monthly regional sports network fee charged to many of its subscribers, lifting the charge from a previous rate of $3.99 to as high as $23.99, with the average fee now settling near $15. The adjustment took effect at the end of June 2026 and applies to customers whose packages include access to a regional sports network.

CordCuttersNews is just late to the game again with their click/rage bait...
Contrary to what their highly misleading blurb says, no one who was on the lowest ~$3 fee (or $0 for most of the Philly DMA) was raised to the highest $23.99 fee. The fee is still cheaper than the multiple standalone D2C subscriptions people would otherwise need.

It's not "going up", it went up 2 months ago as part of the increases already being discussed 3 months ago in this thread and is what happens when you suddenly have to go from paying 1 programmer for access to multiple teams to paying separate programmers for every team. It's only a separate line item because DTV has national pricing for their base packages and what teams you get as part of Choice and higher vary from county to county or zip code to zip code in some cases. ESPN and FOX also charge providers higher for SEC, ACCN and BTN if you're in one of their member states.
