F4WOnline.com is reporting that WWE intends to unify all of its titles within the next year. As seen several week's ago, WWE has already unified the Tag Team Titles, and it was announced on Raw last night that there will be a women's title unification bout taking place at the Night of Champions PPV.

WWE's eventual goal is to have one Intercontinental Title and one World Title in the company, with the World Title unification match taking place at next year's WrestleMania.

The belts don't seem to have much prestige or importance in WWE, so this might be the way to go *shrugs*...

exactly...remember when having a title meant something? And guys held onto it for years

Now we've seen titles change hands twice in one night

In the good old territorial days the world champ went from region to region defending the strap against the top gun in each territory. Now with one team booking programs worldwide and everybody seeing the same storyline there's no real imagination or creativity involved. The death of kayfabe has taken it's toll as well.

Scoop on WWE Unifying Belts or Not, SD’s Success, Divas Unification

- As noted before, WWE has been discussing the idea of unifying all titles, ending with the World and WWE Title unification match at WrestleMania 27.
One WWE source says that just because it’s being discussed doesn’t mean it’s going to happen. Apparently unifying the belts is brought up in meetings every year or so. It’s said that higher-ups in the company are against the idea of unifying the titles, even though it’s being discussed.
The current talks of unification are called a “what if” discussion based on the success or failure of SmackDown on SyFy. The feeling is that if SmackDown doesn’t too bad in moving to SyFy, then they definitely won’t be unifying all the belts.
The Divas and Women’s Titles are being unified at Night of Champions because of the feeling that the Divas division lacks enough talent to have a title on each brand.

I wonder if this also means that there will only be one roster with wrestlers working both shows.

IMO they should be doing both shows, this could spread some more action around make the matches shorter instead of the 30mins each one usually is and go back to the old days when Smackdown first started.
