Hi I am new to this site and have a question for your viewers. I am from Ireland and am inquiring if there is an alternative to Sat dishes. In this country the government along with Apartment complex management companies have started enforcing by laws on residents to remove Sat dishes from their walls stating that they are an eye-sore.
In the USA, have you had similar problems ?
Any help appriciated,
Thanks, John. Dublin Ireland

Alternatives? Cable or "over the air" antennas.

In the USA, we do have Home Owners Associations that tend to be tougher on allowing satellite dishes in their communities. However, we do have a federal law that circumvents many of the HOA's objects by requiring them to allow satellite dishes (39 inch and smaller) to be mounted in private-use areas of the property (with some restrictions). This law covers probably 90% of the issues that would have otherwise prevented installation of a satellite dish.

If you desire satellite reception, you may look for areas that are hidden from view (possibly inside a structure with an open/southward facing area). you might also look at some of the European dealers for satellite dishes that are actually made of some clear/plastic type material (which makes them less visible from a distance).
