What may cause a remarkable difference in the signal strength between my 942 and a 510? The 510 has a stronger signal from the same satellites,(110/119/61.5) than the 942. It's adaquate, but still there is a difference.
They both come off of the same dishes. 1 500 dish with a DP-Twin for the 110/119. And a 500 dish with a DP-Dual for the 61.5. 2 Coax from the Twin and 1 Coax from the Dual into a DP-34 switch. From there, there is coax each to the 942, an 811 and a 510.
Should I be worrying about this, or should I be happy with what I have now?
Thanks for the response ahead of time:

This is normal. The 942 has different software than the 510, and engineering claims the signal strength is based on a different threshold on the Linux receivers which are the models 322/522/625/721/921/942. All other receivers 301/311/50x/510/811 all register higher on the scale.

I have a 522 that reads 100 on SAT119 transponder 11-12, and 95 on SAT110 transponder 11-12. If I put a 311 or 510 on the line, the same transponders register 115ish for 119 and 105ish for 110.

I think what may be occurring from what engineering has said is that if a 311 receiver drops say 10 points, it may only be a 5-point drop on a 942.

I have never had my signal strength drop low enough for me to test it, but it sounds like a reasonable explanation. No sense in worrying about it, you've got a hell of a receiver.

Any others care to elaborate?

Just finished surfing the TP's on all the satellites on the 942 and I didn't get a reading of less than 87. I would hope that this is pretty adaquate. Thanks for the comeback. I get a little paranoid sometimes and need a little assurance that all is well in my small world.
Thanks again:

I agree with most of the above from Bombarde32.
However the 811 meter acts like most dual tuner signal meters, it is considerably less than a 301/311. About 15 pts. lower on the scale.
