I may be going to the UK for a year, and I'm wondering if there is a way to get Dish Network or Directv in the UK. Specifically, I want the Big Ten Network and the ESPNs. Any Advice?

No way to do that, the satellites don't come close to reaching Euorpe.
You may want to look into a slingbox that you could leave at a friend or relative in the US, provided you have a good interent connection on both ends it could work good for you.
