I just met with David from Fortec and was shown the two new Fortec Receivers The Mercury and the Mercury 2.

I will let these two receivers talk for themselves with the photos below.

I did get to ask David some more questions...

4.2.2 and HD IS being devoloped. But is still a ways away.
UHF is being worked on and will be an upgrade kit.

Enjoy the photos!

NICE!!!

Thanks for passing the info on Scott!

Did they mention anything about their firmware upgrades (information on)?

Thanks again!

Awesome... the race is on. I'm sure the company with the first affordable 4:2:2 & HD FTA receiver is going to make a killing. Then the MPEG4's won't be far behind.

Here are some pics of the prototypes and software from Fortec Star's office. Enjoy!

What kind of programming are we talking about? Is this gadget to play with or is there compeling stuff to watch? Sorry I know nothing about free sat stuff.

That sounds great.

I have a suggestion for Fortec. When they develop the software for the channel edit / delete function, have more detailed information respecting the channel being selected, such as satellite, frequency, etc. This will allow the user to readily identify which channel they are editing, as I find it confusing when I go to the list of 100+ channels, and more than one has the same or similar name.

What would be a cool feature is network logo's in the channel info banner, DTV style.

Here you go! New pictures of the retail units;
