Had a friend who just had Dish put in.

Her TVs now have this black line, about 4" wide crawl up the screen and disappear. You can't see them clearly all the time. But now I know they are there...

The televisions are only a few years old, so I don't think it's their problem.

I'm wondering if it's the old cable in the house causing the problem?

How old is the cable. If it's all RG6 it should be ok, but you don't want RG59. Could be a bad connection.

don't know. I'm sure it's the original Cable TV cable put in about 20 years ago or so. I have the same cable in my house, and I have no problem.

I've seen crummy surge suppressors cause this problem. Try placing the receiver and TV on the same power strip and see what happens.
