Should I be concerned about my installation?

well, Jordan I do not think it matters whether I have 20K or 40K posts. If dish does watch the forum it could tell them the concerns of many of posters in the same situation. This is a problem that it is lingering and may in the end cost them potential customers as customers sometimes have little patient. My post was not to ask a direct question (because I knew the answer more or less) but to entice a conversation about why Dish Network does this and practice. I have yet to the receivers and I am not upset about it. I will call them tomorrow and probably get another installation date.

Sorry, I was to quick to fire off a smart a$$ answer.

As you know most E* customers have never even heard of Satellite guys & if E* was treating customers & potential customers correctly there wouldn't be a need for most customers to come to this board.

I am amazed at what E* has done since the first of the year, I would love to know how many new subs E* signed in December with the latest & greatest(at the time) 942 & how many 942's were purchased at full retail, all those customers (many of those subs are big $$ customers since they are into HDTV) have to be extremely upset that they now have to pay more if they want to upgrade to any new HD channels, and they no longer own that HD receiver that they paid $650(in DEC.) + $99 upgrade fee.

Two days before installation and no receivers. I've got two empty boxes... I think this is heading for dissaster sunday when the installer will show up and there will be no equipment to install.
Tech should call you the day or evening before your day of insatall to confirm the eq is at your home and go over all details of the work to be performed

dishcomm,

thanks for the reply. Nobody called me on Saturday as far as I know. I was out the entire saturday and there was no message left on voice mail. So they could have called an left no message (I wouldn't know if they did). Anyway the 23rd (yesterday - the day of my installation) the technician shows up with the 211 and a work order to install only the 211. Immediately the work order is incorrect as there is no mentioning of the 622 or the dish pro equipment to be installed. I did not get upset at all and the installer was quite nice about the problem. I have to call once again today to make another installation date and find out why my order was incorrect and where is my 622. Maybe the reason for no 622 arrival was because there order was incorrect? I do not know. Now, the next window for installation will have to be May for me since I will not be available before May. So far it has become what a few will call a "nightmare". Luckily I still have the 942 and I am not in a hurry to get the other channels but I am sure others would not be as tolerant.

just finished talking to Dish. The 622 was just shipped and I should get it by April 28th. Did not bother to ask what was the problem. I just want to make sure that the receiver has been shipped (I've got a tracking#). The next hurddle was to fix the work order. The initial work order was incorrect as I stated in my previous post. They fixed this. I also told him about the empty boxes. I do not want them to charge me for receivers that they did not receive within 10 day of receiveing (me) the empty boxes.

I have another installation for May 7th (this late because I am not available before May 7th) to install a 622 and 211 with the Dish Pro equipment.

Hopefully, this time it will be smoother.

Sean, yes I think is heading for disaster. Your story sounds exactky like mine. I ordered on 4/10 and got an installation date of 4/20. The empty box for the 942 showed up few days after the order but no 622. I called E* 3 days before installation to check on the 622 and was told that it was not shipped yet and have to re-schedule for 5/19, but of course they already charged my CC

Same here. My install was on Sunday the 23rd and no call on Saturday. I ordered on the 1st and have had the receiver since the 7th. Return box came the next week. The installer showed up Sunday afternoon and wanted to see where he was installing the 622. I told him that I could hook it up to the surround and TV while he was installing the Dish 1000 (I have three dishes 110, 119, and 61.5, but of course not 129). He gave me that look like my Ex used to give me when I mentioned the word sex! He finally admitted that he didn't have the Dish 1000 and it wasn't on the work order. No DP44 switch either. He said I would have to re-schedule and it would be two weeks for the switch. I missed the dispatcher and to my luck I ended up having to call the 800 number . There "Jack" told me the next appointment was May 19. I went ballistic and said I was going to cancel the order and Dish. I ended up being transferred to an Account Specialist who admitted that the Dish 1000 and the DP44 switch were on the order. My new appointment is this Wednesday and I have the choice of having them come back later (I can do without 61.5 for a week or two if I have 129) or send the switch to me for me to install.

I like Dish and am not a Dish basher like many here; however I brought all this up to say that you need to make sure, as best you can, that they have the right equipment on the order and call them ahead of time to make sure everything is on track. As with Sean's case, the installer was polite and empathetic, as was Jack. The Account Rep was great; she recognized the problem right away and handled it without me having to beg or threaten.

I requested upgrade of 622 from 811 on 4-14 and got my empty box this evening 4-24. The UPS guy seemed familiar with the situation and said there is a lot of this going on in the area, and knew that I should expect my receiver in the next few days. My install is due on 5-14 and therefore so far it is going as hoped.

Lovin' my ViP622. Although the installer showed up hours late and worked thru the dark. Didn't aim well, so I called Dish and Thursday morning someone will be here to correct the aim.

But the unit works fine for me.

I had a 301 switched to a VIP 211. I did the first switch myself, took 10 minutes. For the recent switch, Dish insisted on sending an installer. He spent 2 hrs, took apart my lnbs and then reinstalled them cause he couldn't figure out what was needed when all he had to do was a check switch. We have a Dish 500 and a wing at 61.5 (prior local wing/voom) and a DP 34.

I got everything to my liking after messing with the new box.

My question is will the St. Louis locals be on 61.5 or 129 (or both)? He said he checked and we definitely did NOT need a Dish 1000.

Hi, I'm a new member of the group. I put in my order for the $299 upgrade deal on the morning of April 1st, got through to Dish immediately to someone who knew what they were doing. A week later UPS delivered an empty box for the return of the 941, and three days later delivered the 622. The install was scheduled for Monday the 24th between 12 and 5, but the installer called and asked if he could come earlier that morning. The installation took less than an hour and went without any problems. All of this is amazing to me as I live in a very small town on the Central Oregon Coast and assumed I would probably be the last of the last.

So far everything works beautifully except for occasional pixalation of certain channels on Voom which I had been warned about.
