My wife gets a phone call yesterday saying we have won a Dish HDTV pack, an 811 and 34 in HDTV, said they were sending some paperwork for us to sign and send back by registered mail.

Are they really giving things away ? Sounds to good to be true or something with strings attached.

There was a deal a few months back withere dish was giving away a fairly large number of HD systems to existing customers.

Just be careful. Who is offering the "Deal". Dish or a Retailer? Are they asking for any money or personal information? Don't give out anything unless you're shure who you are talking to.

You'll probably have to sign a 1 year contract.

You could ask how much extra they would want for a 921. You might also be able to get the 40" (if they have any left).

They didn't ask for anything, said they would send some paperwork and we would need to return it via certified mail.

(shrug) Wait till the paperwork shows up, verify with the folks who sent it (including why), then verify with Dish that the folks who sent it are okay.

I mean, that's the sort of thing that happens when you really win a sweepstakes. It can also be what happens when someone's running a scam. Don't pay a dime or sign anything till you're sure it's legit. But it might be. :)

Congrats! There was a winners list posted a while back. Maybe a search would turn it up, with your name on it!

I thought the contest was already over last year? Maybe some of the people didn't claim theirs and they are looking for others to claim them but I would think that they would just sell them instead if people didn't claim them.

Thompson/RCA/GE is the same manufacturer/company.
I know that, the reason why I specified, was because the Dish Network TV's are not actually RCA's, they have a little bit of GE too. So therefore by saying Thompson, I was just trying to be specific. There is no Thompson TV model that you can cross the Dish Network TV's with.

Can't find a winners list. All I had to certify was name address and age, and send a tax form. Thats 3 HDTV's, 26 Inch JVC LCD, awesome TV, 37 in Sharp Aquos LCD, now the RCA or whatever they send.

I guess it's going to one of the kids as I still like my 61inch Sony, even though it's not HDTV, it has a great picture.

Well, I have decided to compare
