Anybody in the midwest (Illinois particularly), I am trying to get a sense of how strong my signal strength should be on 129. GoalieBob and I tried to peak the dish today (the installer had the elevation and skew off, both by 2), and I am getting about 45-50 for 129; much higher for 119.

I was finding I easily lose signal during pretty much any rain, and wanted to at least optimize the dish's settings.

That's what GoalieBob and I were guessing, the new meters....

But thanks for confirming that!

But in trying to peak the dish we also realized the installer did a crap job; we put a bubble level on it, and it is off; and the thing has too much give; its bracketed to the wall, but probably should be on a pole mount. I am guessing that is causing as much of the problem in rain storms.

Always something to work on :)

what signals are you getting on 119?

110 -- 66

119 -- 72

129 -- 53

The numbers are 13 higher on 129 then they were before we adjusted it.

I haven't had any problems the past week, but it hasn't rained either :)

I will play with different transponders to see how the numbers vary.

yeah you're on the new system of signal meter

I just checked mine on the 811. This has the old meter and I was using the 129 LNB I have next to my G10 LNB on a Primestar dish so we're working with just a little bigger dish (40x30)

most TP's that registered were at 75
TP13 seemed to be the highest at 94
a few were in the high 70's near 80

converselly 119 is 100+ on most TP's
