Signal strength

the reason you're dropping 110 and not 119 with the dish pointed directly over the tree is that the dish "winks" left of 110, and 119 is 14 degrees right of where the dish looks like it's pointed.
That'd be 4.5 degrees, NOT 14 degrees.

Dish came today and checked the original Dish 500 install. He determined 110 was pointing through the tree. He located a clear line of site opening using his "Suunto Tandem Clinometer and Satellite Locator". He installed a second Dish 500 for the 110 satellite, which is what he said the first installer should have done in this situation. Now the signal strength is over 100 for both satellites.

Alright! So Dish took care of the problem without you having to pay them. Out of curiosity, where did he install the second dish? To the left or to the right of the original dish.

Randall,
Facing the satellites, he moved it to the left. It turned out the 2 spots I picked were no good. They were both far enough to the left, but couldn't get the elevation because of another very large branch from another tree. He had to move it all the way to the back of the house, and to the other end, closer to the satellite. Looking down, the house is an "L" on it's side. The short leg up,and long leg facing left. Original dish is in the front of the house, in the middle of the short leg.
