Ok so this one is not Electronic, but I think one of these is needed in every home theater.

What is it? Its a home soda maker from SodaClubUSA.COM, I ordered one about a month and a half ago and I love it.

I am a big Coke Drinker, and my wife is a big Diet Coke drinker, and we both enjoy the soda we make with our Soda Club unit.

In addition I have also started liking other flavors of soda which I did not like before such as Orange, Grape and even Root Beer.

We got the "Edition 1" version which came with the Soda Club Fountain, 2 tanks of CO2 which each fits inside of the Soda Jet Fountain, plus 8 big bottles of Soda syrup and it also came with a sampler pack of all of their flavors and 4 special 1 liter plastic bottles which you make your soda in.

Each liter of soda costs about 40 cents to make, which is cheaper then buying it from the store, and because your making it yourself, you can customize the taste (add more syrup, less syrup, more carbination, less carbination etc)

To make the soda I take one of the plastic bottles I I fill it about a quarter of the way up with ice, then fill the bottle up to the fill line with cold water.

I then screw the bottle in to the Sodaclub machine and squirt in the CO2 which carbonates the water. You can tell when you added enough as it make a buzzing noise when enough carbination is added. You then sloyly ad the syrup, place the cap on the bottle and turn the bottle over a few times to mix in the flavor, then your done!

I was really surprised at the quality of the soda, I like it, my wife likes it and so do the kids.

In addition to soda if you are an energy drink person they have energy drink syrups as well which are really good.

I got the Value Kit for $149 which includes enough syrup to make 108 liters of soda (you pick the flavors you want) and everything you need to get started.

I have not needed to get refills forr my CO2 yet, but when yyour first bottle runs out you go to the website and order a new one. They send you an email to you letting you know to leave your CO2 bottle outside by the door in the morning, when you come home you have a new CO2 bottle waiting for you.

Each CO2 bottle makes around 110 1-liter bottle of soda. And the cost for a refill is $19.99.

They have a more expensive fancier looking unit available, but mine does me well.

I have always wanted a soda machine in my house, in the past have purchased a Coca Cola "Breakmate" machine but was never happy with the soda and it was always breaking. But now I have the SodaClub machine and I am really happy with it.

If you want to take a look please use my link of http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=giYKSkdY3D8&offerid=99709.10000017&type=3&subid=0 as if you order then I get discounts on my future orders (Syrup refills)

This is one cool gadget. :D

Here is a good writeup I found explaining Soda Club better. :)

SODA-CLUB: AN INTRODUCTION
Sleek and stylish, the home soda maker is a countertop appliance about the size of a coffeemaker that transforms water into fresh, fizzy seltzer/sparkling water at the push of a button. Soda makers operate without batteries, electricity or plumbing, so they are simple to use in a kitchen and great for bringing along on a boat, RV or to a second home. Making seltzer and soda takes just seconds and requires no clean-up.

A reusable, one-liter carbonating bottle (provided by Soda-Club) is filled with water and screwed into the machine fitting. A CO2 carbonator, housed inside the soda maker, adds carbonation at the touch of a button – as much or as little as the consumer prefers. After carbonating the water, the soda drinker simply adds a capful from one of over 25 sodamix flavors to make his or her favorite, great-tasting soda.

Despite recently arriving in the US market, Soda-Club is the global leader of in-home carbonation. Over the past decade, Soda-Club’s home soda makers and soda-making accessories have been sold into over 10 million households in 18 countries around the world. In fact, it is estimated that over 800 million liters of water are carbonated with Soda-Club’s system worldwide each year.

PRODUCT AVAILBILITY
Soda-Club products are available through select retailers, plus several catalogs and internet stores. Our primary focus is building our business on the web. Online revenue doubled in 2005 and we expect online revenue to double again in 2006. We expect this continued growth to derive from excellent word-of-mouth in combination with outstanding public relations exposure and advertising.

SODA-CLUB IN THE NEWS
In recent months, Soda-Club products have appeared in Time Magazine, Food and Wine, Popular Science, The Wall Street Journal, Ebony Magazine, HGTV Kitchen Trends, The Chicago Sun-Times, The Boston Globe, The Baltimore Sun, The Dallas Morning News, The Seattle Times, Cooking Pleasures magazine, msnbc.com and many more. As we continue our PR efforts, and as consumers begin to become aware of Soda-Club (actually, the entire concept of in-home carbonation) we expect that demand will increase exponentially, creating a unique opportunity for affiliates looking to earn healthy commissions. Indeed, we consider our Affiliate Program to be an integral part of our e-commerce growth plan.

BENEFITS OF FRESHLY MADE SODA AND SELTZER
With a home soda maker, a household will save in many ways - save trips to the store, save lugging and storage, save the environment, save sugar and sodium…and save money!

With Soda-Club, soda stays fizzy, thanks to a special hermetic seal in the carbonating bottle caps. That means no more flat, wasted soda. A home soda maker and concentrated sodamix flavors means no more lugging and storing soda. Each bottle of sodamix is about the size of a can of soda but contains enough syrup to make 12 one-liter bottles (about 36 cans) of soda. So, Soda-Club is great for families and for anyone with tight space, including RVers, boaters, college students and urban dwellers.

Soda-Club seltzer/sparkling water has several advantages over store-bought. First, the carbonation can be customized. Secondly, seltzer/sparkling water made with a Soda-Club machine contains no sodium, unlike many store-bought brands. A Soda-Club household will save as much as 50% over store-bought seltzer/sparkling water.

Soda-Club sodas are a sensible alternative to store-bought sodas. Soda-Club’s regular sodamix flavors have 2/3 less sugar, calories, carbs and sodium than regular store-bought soda. Diet flavors are of course sugar-free, contain less sodium than store-bought diet flavors and contain no aspartame – all diet flavors are sweetened with Splenda® brand sweetener.

And finally, soda and seltzer households will save money with Soda-Club. Seltzer starts at just 17 cents per liter; soda starts at just 42 cents per liter. Soda-Club even offers an Energy Drink sodamix that consumers can make for about 25 cents per serving (compared to $1.99 per serving in the store.) Soda-Club is an even greater value when you consider that you’ll stop pouring money down the drain with flat, wasted bottles of store-bought soda. And no more lost deposit fees for customers in bottle bill states. Plus, you’ll help the environment by cutting down on all those cases of store-bought cans and bottles.

SODA-CLUB'S CUSTOMER PROFILE
Soda-Club has found success in a variety of consumer segments, and is therefore suitable for a variety of affiliates. Our most successful affiliates will likely be those whose primary consumers are:
Large families
Sugar/carb-conscious (e.g. dieters, diabetics)
Seltzer fans (e.g. people of recent European or Jewish descent)
People for whom space is at a premium (eg. college students, apartment dwellers, RVers, boaters)
Energy drink fans (for our Energy Drink sodamix)
Upscale homes who consume imported sparkling water (for our Penguin machine)

Almost everyone drinks soda or seltzer/sparkling water. Even upscale households, who tend to index lower on in-home soda, tend to index much higher on sparkling water, seltzer and cocktail mixers such as Ginger Ale and Tonic. Soda-Club’s compactness, mobility and space-saving convenience make it an attractive appliance for boats, RVs, second homes…even college dorm rooms. In short, Soda-Club offers a single appliance solution that provides beverages catering to every taste palate in the household.

Demographic results from a recent customer survey:

Mine drinks soda by the Gallon, I usually make her 2 or 3 - 1 liter bottles a night.

The funny thing is she does not like fountain soda, but actually LIKES the Soda Club Diet Cola.

Its been a great investment for us. :)

Ok, I am going to play Devil's Avocate and state that soda-pop is evil. While it is nice to enjoy a carbonated or alcoholic beverage ever now and then (one or two servings per week), regular consumptions is a definite no-no. The human body works best when provided with adequate amounts of water...not caffeine, phosphoric acid, refined sugars, or high fructose corn syrup. Diet-soda isn't any better since noncaloric foods affect an individual from being able to determine their caloric intake, and fools the body into releasing insulin even though there are no actual calories or sugars.

I'm Sorry...but to quote Helen 'Mama' Boucher of Waterboy fame, "fooseball and soda are the devil."

Thanks for this info Scott :) .
I just ordered the same kit as you. I also noticed theres a Retailer near me so if I ever need anything I should be able to just drive there and get it :) . The whole family are soda drinkers so I think this will be neat to have.

I was considering this, but you're the first person that has said they like it. They do have a 30-day trial, so I may try it out.

If you don't like the first soda you make with it, try different amounts. I hated my first bottle, because it was too fizzy and too syruppy. <--Is that a word? So, for my liking it is 3 pffts of air and almost to the first line of syrup. Root Beer is one pfft of air. So experiment and find out what you like best :)

Ok, I am going to play Devil's Avocate and state that soda-pop is evil...
Not to mention the release of Greenhouse gasses that contribute to Global Warming

Growing up, we had something similar, but not nearly as glitzy. It's called a seltzer bottle... I just remember the gold-anodized bottle and the CO2 cartridges.

In January, I switched my steady diet of Coke to Club soda, including the flavors. I drink more of this now than Cokes so I should do a cost analysis on this.

Yes, I get to play devils advocate also.

I went to the grocery store yesterday and got a 24 pk of coke for 4.96.

1.7 cents/ounce
1.2 cents/ounce if you use the machine

But then you have to go through the hassle of ordering supplies/paying shipping and you still won't ever equal the taste of coke/dr. pepper. Throw in the price of water/the $150 cost of the machine and its equal to or greater than what you would buy in stores.

There are no financial benefits to this machine but if you're a soda conisure then you might be interested.

Being in the restaurant industry, I make tons of soda. One thing to note is that syrup life is about 90 days if stored at room temperature. Diet is especially sensitive to heat. I have thought about getting a machine for home (could just get syrup from the store).
