Here is how it works:
? Customers pay an upfront fee of $49.99 for an antenna.
- This $49.99 includes installation for one receiver, one television and one OTA antenna.
- We recommend using a signal meter to decrease the amount of time to install the antenna.
- A new agreement form will be created and available in the Promotions Center for this offer.
? A $25 equipment discount may apply.
- Please note that the customer must have a ViP series receiver and DishHD Bronze or higher.

What interesting about this Facts Blast is other then the new local channels there is no mention of the new HD channels (VOOM, ESPN2HD and Universal HD) being in MPEG4.

(In fact it almost sounds like it a customer wants those channels they can upgrade their programming package on February 1st, especially with the Olympics news mentioned)

Wow. They even raised the price of the Access Fee if you don't have minimum programming.

Very interesting indeed, but I thought that they said all new HD would be MPEG4 (at least listed that way to the receivers). I have a feeling that that was an oversight. Scott have you heard anything that would lead you to believe otherwise?

? Please note that if a customer is already subscribing to a local package and paying the $5.00/mo. for locals, there is no additional charge for the HD locals. However, a customer will need new MPEG-4 equipment in order to see the HD local channels (requires a system upgrade).

another significant change

Stand-Alone HD Package

Basic HD programming (22 channels)
**Not qualified programming**
$29.99
$34.99

I like these two:

* Also note that DISH’n It Up will require an 18-month commitment for all transactions, and for all customer plans.

* There is a limit of 1 HD receiver per transaction.

I knew there will be some kind of commitment.

That is what he said. Other than the new local channels there is no mention of the need for MPEG4 (ESPN2HD and UHD and Voom is what Scott was talking about)

Scott, I wonder if you can get a clear answer to whether you need the MPEG4 equipment only for locals or for the other 7 new HD channels. This is very unclear. Thanks.

I currently subscribe to the HD package and Voom for $14.99 plus a $5 access fee. Will I still be able to subscribe at that cost or will they bump me to the new stand-alone HD package at $29.99? That would be a huge increase.

Scott,
Any thoughts as to whether ESPN2HD and UHD will be mirrored on 110 so that those of us with a Dish 500 and the non-VOOM HD package might get them? :hungry:

Well.....this is a $10 increase from what I sub to now. I take it the first price is for the HD pack plus the VOOm ch's for 29.99 and then if you wanted to add locals it would be 5 bucks more. It's steep but I think I would consider it if they would let me lease. So I take it that "Not qualified Programming" means that you get charged the extra cash for not having a full package? I guess you can't add the HD pack to the new family pack. After reading again....it makes no mention that you need to upgrade to a new receiver for the new HD ch's....only for the local HD ch's. Is this a misprint? Did they leave it out? Will I be able to just call dish and get the new HD ch's on my 811?

What is the policy on DVR fees if you subscribe to the HD Platinum package? Currently the fees are waived if you subscribe to AEP. I haven't seen any mention of this. Also, what about annual pricing? Currently I subscribe to Top 180and also HBO/Showtime at an annual rate and then pay the locals and HD on a monthly basis. The advantage of the annual rate is that you get one month free. I never subscribed to AEP since there is no annual rate or financial incentive to do so (unless you have a lot of DVR fees). I'm only paying a single DVR fee for my 942 right now.

Scott said "other than the locals".

Didn't anyone else notice there was no mention of the " $200 rebate / April 1st penalty option " for current HD DVR subs ?
