Spam Messages in Windows Messenger in Vista

Is there a way to disable or block spam in IM
I just keep gettin spam porn messages on Windows Messenger they wont go away..like a virus..with the same message ..
I just got this New laptop with Vista.. i still learning the new interface.. so bear with me here..
I think i heard there is this setting in system options in windows to disable a setting.. i forgot which one though

nevermind.. i think i got it now..i was pressing the wrong checked option mark
i was pressing the allow option.. LOL
