Spotbeam?

I can't seem to get the right signal for SAT 119. Each time I try it, it keeps giving me spotbeams on TP 1 and 2 and nothing else on the other ones. What is a spotbeam anyway and how come I can't get any Xmission eventhough is about 90 for Signal Strength. Can somebody guide me to the correct pointing of the SAT when I have the spotbeam?

Hi, welcome to sat guys

Is that what you're using to point dish a spotbeam 1/2?\

Because you should be using transponder 19.

Change the transponder to 19 and then try repeaking.

You need to turn the dish left and right until you get the highest possible signal, then tighten

Then move the dish up and down until you get an even higher signal, then tighthen

Spot beams are on 110° transponders 2-10 even and on 119° TPs 1-9 odd. The rest of the TPs are CONUS, meaning they cover the CONtinental US. Each DBS slot has only 32 transponder frequencies. Tightly aiming a TP at a region allows that same TP frequency to be used for different content in another region, in effect multiplying the number of transponders available for broadcasting local channels. Also, your spotbeams will be much higher strength than the others. So even if you 90 on T-1, all your others will probably be weak. I know in our area if the spotbeams aren't maxed out the dish is out of alignment or something is in the way.
