Star Trek: Starfleet Academy - Paramount+

What little I seen of if has basicly turned me off, since when is there swear in star trek let alone the some word they said, I didnt even care for way it looked and was portray.

I wasnt overly fond of "Discovery" but I watched cause showtime aired it. first seasosn was ok everything ever that just mind numbing and that last season . But basicly everything that been Gatelocked behind there stream platform has not interested me. I was very much interested in "picard" cause legacy characters and possible of borg.

I like the old stuff like pre "cgi" era much more. Enterpise was last good startrek series, And I didnt even like the person they got to play captian

The first season (and most of the second) of SNW was quite watchable, whereas S3 was really sketchy. Discovery, S1-S2 was watchable, but man, 3-5 went sideways and off-the-rails. Picard, S1 and S3 were watchable (with a couple of notable exceptions), S2 was pretty sketchy.

I have had no issues watching ST:TOS, TNG, Voyager, DS9 and Enterprise. Every series has klunker episodes, that's not a surprise (more to be expected, actually), but under Kurtzman, Paramount+'s Trek has been more uneven than anything else that came before it, even the Xindi arc in Enterprise S3 was better than any season of Discovery.

So, sure, when SA S2 comes out, I'll watch it, but my expectations won't be terribly high for it.

Like Starwars, Star Trek went down hill, I saw all the SW movies under Disney once and walked from it saying never again, And I have yet to watch then again. I will watch original trilogy over and over and even prequel trilogy if i see it on, but disney stuff ugh.

Star Trek after enterpise is just horrible in my eyes and dont have same vibe or feeling the prior stuff did it feels like a shell of what it once was just like SW.

Though I will say this IF and i know they wont, do a Star Trek "Borg" series I will find a way to watch. Best thing to come out Star trek out side of the species 8472 that body mounts out of the borg and of course "Q"

No argument from me on SW either. I will admit, I have enjoyed The Mandolorian (though the name Grogu is hideous), but yeah, the third (Disney) trilogy is a wreak.

Kurtzman just doesn't seem to have the feel for Trek that Berman/Braga had (not even close). I think that Jonathan Frakes (who has directed some of the better episodes of Discovery, Picard and SNW) understands Trek far better than Kurtzman and would've been a better show-runner. I'm guessing he didn't want the job...

The thing about Star Wars is, it wasn't that good to begin with. The first couple of films were very good (and driven by special effects), but by the point you meet the Ewoks in Jedi, you realize... as an adult... this is stupid! It would seem possible for the Star Wars universe to produce interesting products, but big ears has failed to do with Stars what it did with Marvel. But Marvel has a great deal more content to work with.

As far as Star Trek falling, it isn't like Enterprise and Voyager were awesome, and the TOS movies weren't all home runs either. Voyager was the first thing Star Trek I stopped watching.

Lower Decks was really good, managing to hit a complicated set of targets successfully, carrying it as a viable story arc and character development while being a silly cartoon! New stuff, Strange New Worlds is good. Not great, but good. How so? My wife likes it. So good, but not great. My wife would never like great Star Trek. I can't speak to the rest.

I was going to watch Lower Decks till I found out it was an Animated Cartoon.

I prefer the Going Forward shows .... going back in time you lose a lot of what you gained.

Better then what is currently being made. SW was always you either liked or didnt even back then, but atlest that stuff worlds better then Disney crap the keep spewing out.

paramount or who owns star trek at the moment can shove it up there collective ass imo, well unless they doing series based on the borg, but they wont and even if they did it probably be just as bad as what currently be made

I watch the newer animated star trek series too and frankly I rather watch the original star trek cartoon series on metv cartoon's

Picard and new worlds if showtime ever shows, I am willing to watch but I have not see them on showtime yet

Back then? The original trilogy combined state of the art special effects and set design with a strong score lifted from the Oscar winning Lawrence of Arabia score and a decent storyline. It was a trilogy written mostly as a trilogy. What can't be forgotten is the movie relied heavily on the special effects, costumes, and sets. It was a remarkable achievement, that elevated a decent storyline. So much about how it was created was unique.

None of it is unique today! So all it has left is the story line, which was never its strong point.

I can tell you Lower Decks is good stuff! Genius really. Otherwise, one of the big problems with Star Trek is trying to find a unique angle or even wanting to gamble on one. Reminds me a bit of Single Female Lawyer. People want what is familiar and new.

New Worlds is okay. It was made for a broader audience though. But it at least has some sense of continuity.

Paramount lost a number of the Star Trek creative crew to other projects, like Ron Moore going on to BSG and "For All Mankind". I see Denise and Michael Okuda are also involved with FAM.
