strange quirk on 722k

my 722k receiver has been doing this for several months and it is beginning to get really annoying.
when 'quick forward' 'play' or any other dvr button is pressed, the corresponding icon stays on the screen forever. typically, if you hit forward the little arrow will show for a few seconds and then dissappear. on mine it does not go away. same for 'live tv' and all of the other dvr messages. the only way to get rid of it is to hit the info button 3 times.
extremely annoying!
anybody else noticed this problem?

How long since you performed a power cord reboot?

a month or so...guess i could try it.

Mine does this with certain software upgrades from time to time. I just hit the Cancel button to get rid of the icon. Usually it goes away after a day or two.

Remove power, 10 seconds, reboot... Solved it for me and hasn't happened since.

When in doubt? Reboot!.

tried it. it also didnt solve the fact that my 722 has a very bad 'lag' sometimes with the remote. different types ir/uhf or freq
