DIRECTV Enterprises, LLC
DIRECTV Enterprises LLC has filed a request for Special Temporary Authority (STA) for a period of 180 days. DIRECTV seeks to
perform telemetry, tracking and command (TT&C) functions during the drift of its DIRECTV 1R satellite from its current orbital
position at 100.85° W.L. to 72.5° W.L. Subject to regulatory approvals, at 72.5° W.L. control of the satellite would pass to Telesat
Canada and would be pursuant to an authorization from Industry Canada. The TT&C frequencies used would be: 17305.0 MHz
(uplink) and 12698.25 and 12699.25 MHz (downlink).

I'm thinking we will see some odd number transponders light up soon.

Telesat has the DBS licence for 72.5 slot. Industry Canada has given them until 2008 to get a Telesat satellite in place. Nimiq 2 will be transfered there after Nimiq 4 is launched.

Nimiq 5 will replace N1 @91 in 2009/10. N1 will become inorbit spare at which time Telesat must deorbit or return all the DTV junkyard dogs they have.

Industry Canada has imposed the same conditions on Ciel for the 129 DBS slot - get your own satellite in place by 2008 or forfeit the licence.
