It does not matter how much you know about satellite technology and I have worked in research and development in a number of the major satellite transmission companies, but there is no substitute for experience on the ground.

I am English and my experience had been in Europe, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa and the differences were not that great.

However coming to America the differences have been a surprise, bandstacking, circular polarity, linear LNBs, motorised dishes, torroid dishes, C band and LNB major switching and even satellite internet. It is although America developed their satellite technology standard without even talking to the rest of the world. It is not that America is behind or in front of the game they are just different.

This forum has been brilliant in helping me and many others in understand no matter whether they are newbie or experienced.

For this I should like to thank you all and especially, Anole, Cadsulfide, Iceburg, Lak7, Pendragon, Turbosat and Voom voom.

Great forum glad I found it!:up

I'll say Thanks, too!

You're certainly welcome.
Now stay around and share with us what you know about the rest of the world. :up
Everyone brings their unique perspective.

Often we get a visitor from some other part of the planet, and often don't know quite how to help him.
Maybe you will pitch in. :)

I can't tell you how much valuable info I've picked up in the last few years of hanging around the forum! :eek:
When I started out, I couldn't even spell BUD nor C-band, and now I'm in the process of getting two big dishes!

And everyone should give a tip of the hat to Iceberg, our moderator.
For being so helpful, and putting up with all of us! :D

PedroGarcia;

We should be thanking you for for your insightful postings. You are an asset to this little community. I spent several years working at an university, and it's amazing how different someones perspective can be based upon where they are from. We all benefit from a fresh set of eyes.
