The Kids Are Alright

Until recently, I watched "0" network comedies. And haven't since Modern Family got redundant years ago. But I had heard about this one and all I can say is, if you like howling good, clever fun, this is a must see, especially for those of us who were reaching adulthood in the early '70's. Great to see Michael Chickliss "back from the Dead". 5 Stars!

I was on the fence for the first two episodes but the third won me over, for now at least. The decor is close enough from what I can tell just going from memory. The characters are much like every TV show where by episode end all conflicts are resolved, and everyone learns a lesson.

The Microwave was the best, for sure. There is just a lot of subtle (quick, sometimes quiet) humor that may blow past some's sense of humor). I do remember seeing Barbara Eden on that AWFUL Bob Hope show. Risque (and embarrassing) for her image at the time, but not "everything"! Funny nonetheless.

I don't remember the Barbara Eden thing, I might have been too young being born in the late 60s. We had a microwave in the 70s but it looked pretty much like every cheap break room microwave with a button for the door and a timer dial. We absolutely ate canned vegetables all the time, garden vegetables were canned and eaten later. It was rare to have fresh veggies and if we did they were cooked to death. Meat was always well done or braised. We ate the same things week after week but no one complained. Mostly we talked about family, our hobbies, or things in the news; no one obsessed over politics like today.

I assume the dad will lose his job at some point since that happens in every 70s show. Netflix has an an excellent animation set in the 70s called F is for Family. It's not family friendly though.
