I “downloaded” a few Dr Pol shows. FF and skip ahead aren’t available. Understood. But skip BACK not working? Really.

Seems to be tied to the rental not really being downloaded. It appears to be DL as we watch. I don’t think it used to be that way.

And it won’t pause. Hit pause, nothing happens. Hit it again, it pauses for a very few seconds, and resumes. Lather, rinse, repeat ad infinitum and it doesn’t change its behavior.

And it does not delete it when you tell it to. But a few minutes later, it’s gone.

I might test this on the MBR HWS on 700. But I doubt Dish sees it fit to fix this.

So my question is, does this behavior occur on the H3? Which version, yay or nay?

WELL, now isn’t that SPECIAL!

It seems to depend on the show. They were all set to “rent” within an hour or so.

But on the 12/11 show we are watching now, skip back works. 54 mins long than 44. But pause still restarts itself, albeit only one press of pause is needed.

And the previous episode deleted just fine thank you.

Consistently inconsistent.

Well, season 12 episode 11 wouldn’t delete normally. And 12/3 won’t skip back. Nor does pause work properly. And it takes two presses to get the brief pause.

There’s a nice German grocery store and deli near here. I don’t know of any good German restaurants here, though.

We ought to try Biergarten Haus, but it’s in NE DC. Anyone here try them?

I thought the German restaurant near Martinsburg, WV, was pretty darn good. Best black forest cake I've ever had! No flip/flops allowed.

First, you can re-download those again, although I know the pain of reloading all of them at once. If you have fast enough speed, you can just download one two at a time and then you can watch as they download, and then move to the next one. Not as good as having them already downloaded ready to go, but . . .

I agree. Most of the shows I download allow skipping back and forth. However, I've had a few shows I usually don't watch come with the STUUUUUPID restrictions of no NO skip AHEAD at all, maybe only skip back. Yeah, that is really a big PITA! Also, some content (not ones I usually access via VOD) is only offered as a STREAM, and NO SKIPPING forward or FFW. This is a major PITA because a few times I was watching a movie or whatever LIVE, but was interrupted (or who knows what my distraction was) and I did NOT hit the record button. But, have no fear, I can see it via VOD (download is best), but is is offered as a STREAM only, and, therefore I can NOT FFW to the place in the movie where I left and stopped watching. DOOOOOOHHH!!!! It was pretty far into the movie, like the last 1/4 of the flick, where I left off, and I was NOT going to let it play for over an hour and, thereby, not able to watch anything else (because it is a STREAM with no FFW), just to finish the movie, and NO, there was no download option.

I know this is NOT Dish; it is the content owners/distributors who force all these stupid restrictions. Sometimes all we want to do is finish watching a movie or TV show we had started but did not record, or even some idiot in the household sent to TRASH days ago, so VOD is are only really good option to finish the show that was recorded by trashed by teen age kids. And not every show is necessarily rebroadcast later in the week. I've learned that one the HARD way.

The sad thing is that this is where we all know things are headed: streaming only with NO SKIPPING. I even wonder how long even Netflix can sustain the current model of allowing FFW and RW without at some point having to charger extra because the content owners or Netflix itself wants to inject ads. I really do fear the Hulu model of one price with ads, and an upgrade prices for no ads to be the future for even Netflix now that the content owners know the value of their content to Netflix, et al.

Simple: Dish, please do all that you can to allow us to download and keep skip, FFW, RRW features. I know; there isn't much Dish can do about it either.
