I received an email from Dish asking if I was enjoying my Heartland package and informing me that my 50% off deal was expiring soon and starting Thu I would be billed at the regular price. Only one problem, I don't have that package. The email is legit. It has all the correct acct info and isn't asking for any information so no phishing and the return addy is legit so I'm a wee bit confused. Guess I'll wait and see if I'm charged anything come Thu.

Did you ever have the Heartland Pack?

I had something similar happen when I subscribed to the multi-sport pack at 50%. I unsubscribed from it right before the deal expired so I wouldn't be charged the full price, then a while later, I got a reminder that I would be billed at the regular rate. It seemed like their system date/time was off! :biggrin

I would be shocked if that email came from Dish. If it did, it would be very embarrassing that they had wrong information about your subscription.
If I were you, I would call customer service to see what the heck is going on. If it is not legit, they may ask you to forward that email for further investigation.
Unfortunately I have seen an email sent to me at the wrong time...

And don't forget, Dish Network was hacked a year ago, so it's a safe bet that someone somewhere has a list of Dish Customers and their email addresses (at least as of that time frame). The potential payoff from a phishing campaign using this list could be CC info as well as verifying the email address is still viable.

Turning 82 in 34 days, still have a full head of hair!

OK, but this email did not ask for anything, it simply said no action is required. That's not phishing.

But, it did ask for something. It wants you to click on a link and sign into your account and cancel that package before it hits full price.

It may be legit and a mistake. Then again, it may be like those millions of emails sent out saying that someone has hacked your Wells Fargo bank account and you need to sign in and change your password. When you click on the link, it looks just like the Wells Fargo bank website sign in page.

OK, listen up, I've been doing this since 1979. Prior to retiring I traveled around the country securing and updating systems for Fortune 500 companies. I have security protocols in place on my system you've likely never heard of. I can back trace anything. This email is legit from Dish, period, so let's get off this smoke blowing "phishing" tangent. Something is messed up with Dish's system and that's the real issue. Is it simply a mis-directed email or does something in the system "think" the situation is real? Time will tell come Thursday if my bill suddenly increases.

No one is questioning your competence. I, for one, was unaware. Maybe you should have led off with your credentials.

I simply pointed out that "if" it was a scam, they were indeed asking you for something, to sign in and defend your account from an unauthorized charge. Thousands of people have fallen for less.

In the future, if you don't want responses or comments, just say so in your post so we can all move on.
