Hopefully tomorrow night I can add xcache to the system and speed us up lots more. (I should have actually done that tonight before building the search index)
The search engine is being reindexed (and it hasn't been fully done in over a year) because of some issues we are having, and this was a suggestion from vBulletin to try fixing it. Let's hope it works.

Holy cow, the reindex has been running for an hour and a half and so far only 53,000 posts have been indexed out of 1.3 million, its going to take all night to finish.
It is processing 250 posts every 31.60 seconds.

I 'm sure you have seen by now, even though the reindexing is still going on, the site speed has come back and working well at this time

Ok just did some more work. Now we have caching turned on.
