Three things you need to know about the phone Amazon is launching this week

Where has the data rumor been stated as anything but that?

It's entirely possible I missed it, but that is not official, and perhaps won't be the case.

Interesting gesture-controled navigation of screens. I hope you haven't had too much coffee! But that would be nice if you were wanting to keep a firm grip on the phone and were going through e-mails.

Was it 32 GB for $199 and 64 GB for $299 and a two-year at&t contract? How does that compare to other Android phones of a similar screen size?

Device ships out on July 25th.

The pricing is as follows:

Well, you do get a year of prime thrown in, so that effectively brings the price down to $99 on contract. Thats better.

Watching some of the hands on and I have to say, the phone is impressively smooth in transitions and operation.

Saw it on GMA this morning, the 3d looks pretty cool.Other than that I have no need for it.

WSJ says too little too late: http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2014/06...-late/?mod=WSJ_hppMIDDLENexttoWhatsNewsSecond

Mainly since it is cut off from Google's App store and Amazon is missing a bunch of popular apps.

The reason Amazon’s phone has about a tenth as many apps as the iPhone or Android phones is that, though it’s based on Android, Fire OS is heavily modified. For this sin,Google GOOGL +0.77% has banned it from accessing the Google Play store, the official repository of Android apps.

Amazon is betting that developers will close this “app gap” quickly, and give the Fire all the capabilities its competitors have. But developers won’t jump on board with Fire OS unless people switch to it–and they probably won’t. It’s the classic chicken-and-egg problem of building an ecosystem of software around any particular piece of hardware.
